Clocks won’t fall back on Nov. 1 as B.C. stays on Pacific time

B.C. has moved to a single year-round time standard, so there is no clock change this fall.

The province announced on March 2 that it would end twice-yearly time changes, with March 8 as the last time clocks moved. The provincial website confirms clocks will not change on Nov. 1.

The year-round standard is called Pacific time, seven hours behind UTC. Northeastern B.C., which never changed its clocks, keeps the same time in practice, while southeastern communities such as Cranbrook stay aligned with Alberta.

What it means for you: Most people don’t need to do anything. Don’t turn back manually set clocks on Nov. 1. Questions: Service BC, 1-800-663-7867.
