About 1.8 million of 3.74 million registered voters cast ballots, according to Elections BC’s preliminary figures.
Elections BC’s preliminary count shows 1,799,550 ballots considered and 3,738,182 registered voters as of Oct. 14, for a turnout of 48.14%.
Global News reported the turnout was about 10 percentage points lower than in 2024, and both Global News and CTV called it the lowest on record. The NDP received more than 270,000 fewer votes than in 2024, and the Conservatives about 49,000 fewer.
UBC political science lecturer Stewart Prest told Global News the low turnout would become part of Eby’s legacy.
