Vancouver’s Fall Leaf Collection Program Is Underway

The City’s fall leaf collection program is underway to help reduce localized flooding risks and protect local waterways.

The City’s fall leaf collection program is underway as millions of leaves fall across Vancouver this autumn. City crews will clear leaves from streets from mid-November through January. Together, these efforts will help keep neighbourhoods cleaner and safer, and better prepared for the rainy months ahead.

Residents can put leaves from their property, sidewalk and boulevard in their green bin for regular collection. Extra leaves can go in paper yard waste bags or store-bought bins (max.100 litres) on designated collection weekends. Set them out before 7 am on the scheduled Saturday. Check your address on vancouver.ca to confirm your pickup schedule.

Do not rake or blow leaves onto streets, sidewalks, bike lanes or into catch basins. Leaves in these places can create slippery, hazardous conditions for pedestrians and cyclists, contribute to localized flooding, and may result in fines under the Street and Traffic By-law.
